Moiva strengthens its data platform for care work – Petteri Heinonen appointed Chief Data and Development Officer

Petteri Heinonen, M.Sc. (Tech.), has been appointed Chief Data and Development Officer at Moiva. He is responsible for Moiva’s entire data platform as the company builds its AI and data platform for care work with international markets in mind.

Care work constantly generates valuable data. But that data is scattered across different systems, and only part of it can be put to use. Moiva’s best-known use case, AI-assisted voice documentation, changes how data is produced as part of a caregiver’s daily work. The platform adds significant value when that data is combined and refined so it better supports care professionals, management, and the people who receive care.

“Voice documentation is an important way for us to produce data as part of care work. But the real value comes from how that data can be used in everyday work, in developing care, and in managing it. Petteri’s experience with data, analytics, and business-critical systems strengthens our ability to build the platform as a whole,” says Tero Salminen, CEO of Moiva.

Experience with data across industries

Heinonen has spent many years working with large volumes of data and business-critical systems in several industries. At SOK, the central company of S Group, a Finnish retail and hospitality cooperative, he was Director, Information Management, responsible for analytics systems. That environment spans retail, hotel and restaurant operations, and fuel retail, among other businesses. At Saka, a Finnish used-car retailer, he was Chief Information, Technology and Data Officer and a member of the management team. At Marimekko, the Finnish design company, he was Systems Manager, helping develop international IT systems. He minored in medical technology during his engineering studies.

“What interests me at Moiva is the chance to build our own technology to solve a problem that really matters in people’s everyday lives. AI and data are now putting things within reach that weren’t possible before. Through digitalization, we can improve the lives of people who need support and care, and better allocate one of the scarcest resources in care work: time. At the same time, we’re building a product for international markets,” Heinonen says.

A unified data foundation for care

At Moiva, Heinonen’s focus is on developing the data platform and processes: how the data generated in care work can be combined, standardized, and put to better use than it is today.

“There’s no digitalization without data. There are no established shared models yet for using care data or for data-driven management, and I want to be part of building them. Today, what gets documented mostly tells us what has already happened. With a unified data foundation, it can also help us anticipate what’s ahead,” Heinonen says.
