Kauppalehti, Finland's leading business daily, wrote about Moiva's expansion to Japan on 21 October 2026. The same day, Moiva signed a memorandum of understanding with Akita Prefecture and Akita Sousei Management in Helsinki.
The article starts from care work in Finland. Moiva's AI-assisted voice documentation is used by Finnish care organizations, including several Attendo care homes, and the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health has studied its effect on care professionals' work. According to a preliminary estimate in the study, time spent on daily care documentation in one of three care homes fell from about 46 to 21 minutes per employee per work shift.
From there, Kauppalehti turns to Japan, where the need for elderly care is on a different scale. In Akita Prefecture, more than 40% of residents are 65 or older. Under the memorandum, Moiva will introduce and test its voice documentation and data platform in elderly care in Akita, together with Akita Sousei Management.
“Business culture in Japan is very different from, say, the United States. A straightforward come-in-and-sell approach doesn't work there. You first need to earn the trust of the local authorities,” Moiva CEO Tero Salminen told Kauppalehti.
Salminen also told the paper that Moiva is opening its own office in Japan and will hire local staff. According to Kauppalehti, he is preparing to spend about half of his time building Moiva's business in Japan over the next few years.
